About Us:

The Painted Chair is a remarkable joint business venture that was established by Laura and Martin Berkerey in September of 2017. With Martin's background in software sales and Laura's passion for creating as a pharmacist, they decided to embark on a new adventure by opening their own business. Laura, yearning for something fresh and exciting, had always envisioned owning her own enterprise. Thus, during the summer of 2017, Laura and Martin dedicated their time to meticulously plan and prepare for the launch of The Painted Chair. Their vision was to create a haven where individuals could find inspiration and indulge in the art of furniture painting and chalk paint through engaging DIY classes. With their plans in place, they finally opened the doors of their quaint shop in September of that same year. Located at the original address of 3 North Jefferson Street in Farmington, MO, The Painted Chair quickly became a beloved establishment within the local community. 

Fast forward to September of 2023, Danielle and Kris Jones took over the reins of The Painted Chair from Laura and Martin, embarking on their own exciting journey as business owners. Danielle and Kris had previously operated their own online shop from the comfort of their home, but the opportunity to be part of The Painted Chair family in a brick-and-mortar location was too enticing to pass up. Eager to continue serving their community with handcrafted and custom products, Danielle and Kris embraced their new roles with enthusiasm. 

The Painted Chair expanded its offerings to include a diverse range of classes. In addition to furniture painting, the shop now provides classes on wood signs, 3-D signs, ceramics, and canvas painting. To guide these artistic endeavors, the store employs the talents of Beth Vogelsang, a wonderful artist who leads art classes for both children and adults. The Painted Chair also expanded its reach beyond the physical store, selling custom wood signs on platforms such as Etsy, Amazon Handmade, and their own website. With nationwide shipping available, customers from all corners of the United States can now enjoy the unique creations from The Painted Chair.

Wood Workshops:

Looking for a fun and creative activity? Look no further than our wood workshops! Join us for our OPEN-PAINT days and unleash your artistic side as you create stunning wood signs, clocks, trays, and more. The best part? No prior experience is required! With hundreds of projects to choose from and new designs being added regularly, you’ll never run out of options. Our projects are made easy with the use of stencils, making them suitable for both you and old. Our experienced staff will be there to guide you through each step of the painting process, ensuring that you create a masterpiece you can be proud of. We even have kid-friendly designs that can be easily painted with a little help from an adult.

When you join us for an OPEN-PAINT day, all the materials you need will be provided, so you can simply relax and enjoy the painting experience. Plus, you are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks to make the day even more enjoyable. It’s the perfect opportunity to let your creativity flow while spending quality time with friends, family or even by yourself.

Please note that pre-registration is required to secure your spot. Our OPEN-PAINT days are ideal for individuals of small groups looking to express their creativity and have a great time. However, if you have a larger group of six or more, we recommend considering a private party. You can choose a date and time that works best for you, and we’ll make sure your group has an unforgettable experience.

Canvas Painting Workshops:

At the Painted Chair, we believe that there is a little “Bob Ross” in all of us! We offer canvas painting classes for kids, couples and adults, led by artist Beth Vogelsang! All materials are provided and guests are welcome to bring snacks. For groups of 6 or more, we offer Private Parties with a canvas painting option.

Ceramic Workshops:

NEW- We have recently added Ceramics classes to our schedule! Paint Christmas Trees, Gnomes, Snowmen, Ornaments and More! All materials included. See events schedule for availability.

Kids Classes/Summer Art Camp:

Get those kiddos inspired and loving art!! We offer hands-on, kids classes on canvas painting, wood signs, and ceramics. All materials are included. See our KIDS ART CLASSES tab for schedule and event details. We also offer a June-July art education camp for kids 5-15. Topics covered include painting, drawing, sculpture and ceramics.

Subscription Boxes:

We offer monthly and quarterly subscription boxes for kids and adults! Complete with projects, paint and instructions, they are a crafters delight! Free local pick up and we ship anywhere in the US!
